Went on my first night out in over 10 months last night. I was feeling pretty good about myself, but totally guilty for not being with my bubs even though he was having a lovely time at my mums house.
Today is a month until my 27th Birthday.
Alot has happend lately, the main event being the birth of my wonderful son George.
I never blogged about his actual birth, so here goes.
FRIDAY
I was booked in to be induced on Friday 20th April when I was 10 days over due. Just Ryan came with me that night as we knew nothing was gonna happen for a little while. We arred at 9pm and the midwife showed me to my bed/home for the next couple of days. After checking me in and telling me to get into my nightie I was popped onto a monitor for an hour. They then put the firstProstaglandin tablet in, and hooked me up again to check on bubs. I told Ryan to go home and get some sleep as nothing was going to happen yet.

11 Days Over
The next morning I woke at 6am. As I hadnt even felt any twinges they popped another tablet in and checked all my obs. Baby was happy as larry. Withing 2 hours Ryan had arrived and I had started getting mild contractions so asked for some pain killers, and it was very uncomfortable. Mum turned up another couple of hours later so Ryan went into town to get me a few things. Mum thought it would be a good idea to get me walking and so we went around the hospital. Well bloody hell it was agony.
After a few more hours the conractions died off and lucky really as they were full up in labour ward and had no spare midwives. Ryan and mum went home at 11pm and I put my head down for the night.

12 Days Over
I was woken up by the midwife at 6am and told to get a shower and shed get me some breakfast. I had had no pains in the night at all. At 7am I was walked over to Labour ward, and I don’t think it had actually hit me that I was going to start having my baby. 7.15 they put me on a drip giving me the drug that would start my contractions and they also popped my waters, it was quite nice. I told them that I wanted an epidurul as I wasnt about to be a hero and so they aranged for the anesthetist to come over. Ryan arrived just before the dr did which was lucky as I needed him to hold my hand. Due to the size of bubs I really struggled to bend over enough for him to get the needle inbetween the plates. He then had to do a spinal tap as he punctured the bag around my spine.
After half an hour my contractions started and I was trying to be brave but they really hurt. The spinal had not worked. I shouldn’t have been able to move my legs let alone feel pain. The dr came back and tryed to put my anaestic in but it kept coming back out :| In the end he had to remove it, and apologised as I would have to use other methods of pain medicine. Mum turned up during all this.
As the pains got stronger I started to use the gas & air, the midwife also gave me diamorphine. I got more and more out of it as the day went on. I kept talking to myself and then crying and getting really angry with the pains.
At 2.30pm they changed midwives and Harri arrived. The BEST midwife in the world.
She got me off the bed and walking to the bathroom. I remember this being hell and all I wanted to do was sleep but she wouldnt let me. I ended up back on the bed but she had brought the head of the bed up right and I was leaning against it on my knees. Come 4.45pm I was feeling the need to push, so I started. I just shut the hell up and concentrated on breathing and pushing. My son was born at 5.27pm.
My mind was suddenly clear when I saw him and I had such a huge rush of love, and the came the rush of blood. He had tore me on the way and I was bleeding very heavily, so heavy they couldnt figure out where I was bleeding from. I had to go to theatre and be put under general anastetic. Due to complications I was there nearly 3 hours. I lost alot of blood and nearly lost my life…so scarey to think my boy could have lost me just as he’d met me. it breaks my heart. anyways they managed to stop the bleeding and find the tear. things down below seem like they’ve had a face lift :p
That night was horrible as I couldnt move due to having lots of packing inside me, and a catheter. Luckily bubs slept alot.
TO BE CONTINUED…..
been getting the same pains in my neck and back as I had when the spinal tap went wrong…no head ache though :/
